چکیده

J. Phys. Or es (SADs) in aqueous solutions was investigated in a wide range of pH by time-correlated single photon counting (lex1⁄4 350nm, tresp1⁄4 300ps) and fluorescence up-conversion (lex1⁄4 266nm, tresp1⁄4 300 fs) techniques. The acid–base equilibrium constants in the ground (pKa) and the excited states (pK a ), the fluorescence quantum yields as well as the lifetimes of anionic, neutral, and cationic forms of SADs were determined. Evidence of ultrafast excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) leading to the formation of the proton-transferred excited state of SADs was obtained from the fluorescence up-conversion measurement. The nature of the ESIPT process is discussed. Copyright 2008 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Unidimensional Thin Layer Chromatography of Salicylic Acid Derivatives on Boric Acid-Impregnated Plates in Drugs Studies

A unidimensional Thin Layer Chromatography system for the separation of salicylic acid and its derivatives (sulfosalicylic acid and Aspirin) has been developed. The separation was successfully using a solvent system of chloroform-methanol-water-ammonium hydroxide 120:75:6:2 (V/V) as mobile phase on TLC plates impregnated with boric acid. The method is based on different behavior of investigated...

Formation of Yttrium(III) Complexes with Salicylic Acid Derivatives in Aqueous Solution

Complexes of yttrium(III) formed with 5-sulphosalicylic acid, 5-SSA (H3L), and 5-nitrosalicylic acid, 5-NSA (H2L), were investigated in 0.1 mol.dm −3 sodium perchlorate ionic medium at 25.0 ± 0.1 ◦C potentiometrically for various molar ratios of Y(III) to these salicylic acid, SA (H2L), derivatives. Y(III) forms YL and YL3− 2 type complexes with 5-SSA that have rather high stabilities (log β1= ...

Effect of Salicylic Acid, Citric Acid and Ascorbic Acid on Post-harvest Quality and Vase Life of Gerbera (Gerbera jamesonii) Cut Flowers

Cut gerbera (Gerbera jamesonii) flowers are sensitive to microbial contamination and have short vase life. The effect of salicylic acid, citric acid and ascorbic acid (50, 100 and 200 mg l-1) was evaluated on vase life of gerbera flowers. Changes in vase life, water absorption, and bacterial population in stem and vase solution, also biochemical characteristics such as protein concentration, li...

Synthesis of arylidinebarbituric acid derivatives catalyzed by dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid (DBSA) in aqueous media

A series of arylidine barbituric acid derivatives was synthesized by Knoevenagel condensation reaction of aromatic aldehydes with barbituric acid or thiobarbituric acid using dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid as a Brønsted acid-surfactant catalyst in aqueous media. Regardless of the nature of the substitution (electron-donating and -withdrawing), all the reactions were completed within 15-65 min in w...
